Event: Field Event—Norfolk Sand Plain Restoration Tour with Peter Carson

Peter will take participants to a number of restoration sites that represent various habitats and stages of maturity. We’ll start with his and Mary’s property and then visit 2 or 3 restored NCC sites that they have worked on. Planning, execution and results will be discussed and illustrated.

Where to meet: Peter and Mary’s at 316 Norfolk County Rd 60, Walsingham.

Note:

  • Hikes are free to the public. Limit is 20 participants.
  • Pre-registration is required by emailing info@norfolkfieldnaturalists.org
  • Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather and hiking conditions.
  • Carry water, bug spray and sunscreen.
  • Don’t forget your cellphone, camera, binocs and/or field guide.
  • No pets please.

Meetings

Meetings are usually held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Simcoe Recreation Centre, Norfolk Room. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m.

Field Events

Various field outings are also planned throughout the year, and include trips to local conservation areas, bird banding, winter tree identification and much more. Field outings are free of charge.
