Join Audrey for a driving tour to look for raptors and other winter birds on the backroads of Haldimand County. Hoping for Red-tailed Hawk, American Kestrel, Northern Harrier, Short-eared Owl, and other birds….and maybe even a Snowy Owl.
Depending on the weather and interest we might stay out until after sunset (5:06 pm) for Short-eared Owls (though folks are welcome to leave the caravan at any time).
Bring your binoculars and a full tank of gas!
Where to meet: Parking lot by Silver Lake Farmers Market in Port Dover.
Note:
– Hikes are free to the public. Limit is 20 participants.
– Pre-registration is required by emailing info@norfolkfieldnaturalists.org
– Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather and hiking conditions.
– Carry water, bug spray and sunscreen.
– Don’t forget your cellphone, camera, binocs and/or field guide.
– No pets please.
Meetings
Meetings are usually held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Simcoe Recreation Centre, Norfolk Room. Doors open at 6:45 p.m. and the program begins at 7 p.m.
Field Events
Various field outings are also planned throughout the year, and include trips to local conservation areas, bird banding, winter tree identification and much more. Field outings are free of charge.
